In order to become a certified member of the Joint Health & Safety Committee (JHSC), members must complete Part 2 of the certification training within twelve months of completing Part 1. Training on all of the hazards that may be found in a particular workplace is not required to become certified. However, an understanding of the recognition, assessment, control, and evaluation process in identifying hazards provides certified members with skills to apply their knowledge to contribute to the Internal Responsibility System (IRS) for a healthy and safe workplace.
The City of Waterloo recommends this training be completed by all JHSC Members *Minimum 1 worker member/ 1 management member per committee requires certification.
